The challenge takes place December 5-8 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club®, Orlando.
Every December, this tournament brings together the legends of golf with their children in a unique, championship event that celebrates families and relationships, and also helps others in need.
In 1995, the Father/Son Challenge was created by the International Management Group (IMG) to provide an opportunity for professional golfers to play competitive golf alongside their sons. In the following years, the field has expanded to include daughters and grandchildren. As the Father/Son Challenge continued to evolve, the first Son/Father pairing was added in 2017.
Since 2012, PNC has been the presenting sponsor of the event. The sponsorship reflects the values of the groups involved and their focus on relationships, family and community.
Among the most unique events in golf, all father participants must have won a Major tournament on the PGA Tour to be eligible to participate. Event highlights at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Grande Lakes Resort in Orlando include 20 teams, a $1,085,000 purse and over 35 hours of national coverage on NBC and the Golf Channel.
This is a favorite event for the players because it allows them to have experiences with their families that they can’t get anywhere else.
This is as good as anything. To be able to come out in a professional event and win and have the whole family here, I’ll never forget it.
Arnie’s Army Charitable Foundation
PNC’s support of the tournament benefits the Arnie’s Army Charitable Foundation. Through their initiatives and financial support, Arnie’s Army continues Arnold Palmer’s tradition of impactful philanthropy and community leadership.
