Y on the Fly

Presented by PNC, the mobile summer camp in Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Dayton and Detroit brings physical activity and nutrition programming to middle and low socioeconomic neighborhoods throughout the summer.

For thousands of kids in Dayton and Detroit, the summer of 2018 was all about Duck Duck Goose, hula hoops and yummy snacks, thanks to Y on the Fly, Presented by PNC. Launched at Pittsburgh’s YMCA in 2016, the mobile summer camp brings physical activity and nutrition programming to middle and low socioeconomic neighborhoods throughout the summer.

A PNC-branded van, stocked with Frisbees, balls, sidewalk chalk and jump ropes, travels to libraries, recreational centers, parks and inner city apartment complexes to provide 60 minutes of activities at each site. The remaining 30 minutes are spent preparing healthy snacks with the children, who are then given the easy-to-follow recipes to take home.
