Day 11: Pipers Piping Gingerbread Cookies

These delicious and simple gingerbread cookies are piped with frosting and hold tiny pipes!

Supplies

  • Spice Cake Mix (15.25-ounce box)
  • ½ Cup Butter (room temperature)
  • 1 Egg
  • Icing
  • White fondant
  • Edible silver spray
  • Small straw

Instructions

  1. Mix the butter and egg in a large mixing bowl. Sift in the cake mix. Mix together wet and dry ingredients.
  2. Chill the batter for about an hour.
  3. Roll the batter out between two sheets of wax paper. Cut the gingerbread men with a cookie cutter.
  4. Set aside excess dough. Carefully remove each cookie from waxed paper and place on a parchment-lined cookie sheet.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack.
  7. Break off a small piece of the white fondant and roll out like a snake. Trim to the size desired for a flute.
  8. Use a straw to add buttons and a mouthpiece to your flute.
  9. Then add a coating of the edible silver spray to the flute. Allow to dry completely

Tips & Tricks

  • If the batter is crumbly, just knead it a few times to pull it together.
  • Roll the dough fairly thin so the cookies hold their shape better.
