D.I.Y. Craft Project

Day 4: Calling Bird Yarn Ornaments

Calling all kids! These fuzzy and fun ornaments are the perfect project for little ones.

Supplies

  • Safety Scissors
  • Small, Dessert-Sized Paper Plates or Cardboard
  • Yarn (in your color of choice)
  • Black Felt
  • Yellow Felt
  • Felt in the Same Color as Yarn
  • Craft Glue

Instructions

  1. Cut out felt pieces for feet, beak, wings, and eyes.
  2. Cut a slit into the paper plate or cardboard disc from the perimeter to the center.
  3. Tie a knot at the end of your yarn and slide the knotted end into the slit in the disc. Randomly wrap the yarn around the cardboard disc until the entire circle is covered in yarn.
  4. Tie the yarn off in the back.
  5. Glue the felt eyes, beak, wings and feet to the bird using craft glue.
  6. Repeat until you have four calling birds.

Tips & Tricks

  • Add a small knotted bundle of yarn to the top of each bird for a small tuft of feathers.
  • Tie a piece of string to each bird to turn it into an ornament.
