PNC Card Free ATM Access allows you to use your mobile device to perform an ATM transaction by requesting a one-time access code. This feature is available at most PNC ATMs, check the locator for a location near you.
Any PNC ATM transaction that can be completed with a PNC debit or banking card can now be completed without a card.
The experience will continue at a PNC ATM once the 8-digit code has been provided in the PNC Mobile app.
Active PNC debit and banking cards are eligible for Card Free ATM Access. Cards not eligible for this feature include deposit only cards, credit cards, SmartAccess® cards and non-PNC cards.
Your card may not be eligible for this feature.
For joint account owners, you must have your own user id and password in order to access your card in the app. Customers can enroll in mobile banking directly in the PNC Mobile app or at www.pnc.com. You will need your Social Security number, the PIN associated with you Debit Card, and your account number to enroll.
No, your one-time access code can be used only once to gain access at the ATM. Just like when you use your card, you can complete multiple transactions with the re-entry of your PIN. As soon as you return to the welcome screen, the session is complete.
No, there can only be one active code per user. An access code remains active until it is successfully used at the ATM, another code is generated, it is cancelled in the app or the 30-minute time limit expires.
Please ensure that you entered the entire 8-digit code correctly. Your active code also displays after you sign in to the PNC Mobile app. Your active code is valid for 30 minutes from the request or until its successfully used at an ATM. If the code still isn't working, it may be expired, and you will need to request a new code in the app.
On rare occasions, Card Free Access may not be available at some ATMs due to maintenance. During this time, you can insert your debit card to complete a transaction.
While PNC tries to limit the number of instances when a machine malfunctions, these issues may occur. Please call PNC Customer Services at 1-888-PNCBANK, use the help center in the app, or visit a branch to explain your experience.

When you deposit an approved check from your mobile phone or a PNC DepositEasy℠ ATM, PNC Express Funds gives you the option, for a fee, to make the full amount available immediately for withdrawals and purchases.

Instead of “generic” account designations, (i.e. Checking 1, Checking 2, etc.) the last four digits of the account will be listed.
This change will only be for PNC account holders. Non PNC-account holders will continue to see generic account designations.
In the past, a user had to enter three settings (language, receipt and fast cash) in order to enable ATM personalization preferences. With the enhancement, ATM Personalization no longer requires a user to enter all three settings.
Customers personalizing their ATM experiences will be asked to choose a preferred language. After that, languages can be changed in the “Preferences” menu or online through a user account link.
Within Preferences, your language, fast cash and receipt selections can be set up individually as well as altered individually. Also note that the Preferences will include an e-receipt option, so that receipts can be sent to a PNC account-holder’s e-mail address on file.
As an enhanced option, PNC customers will be able to choose an e-receipt. This means that ATM receipts will be sent to the primary e-mail address customers have registered with PNC. Customers will not be able to alter or input an e-mail address at the ATM. When a user chooses the e-receipt option, that user will be shown the e-mail address on file and asked to confirm that it is correct.
That is, ATMs will read prepaid cards and display their corresponding transactions (instead of the comprehensive transaction menu offered to debit card holders). The new function will ensure that PNC SmartAccess prepaid card customers choose eligible transactions. That is, PNC SmartAccess card holders can't accidentally choose inapplicable options and receive an error message.
We have two types of ATM screens - screens that are key-controlled and touch-screens. You can expect enhancements at both types of ATMs.
The enhanced screens won’t impact the function. PNC Bank ATMs still offer check-cashing and check images on receipts. Deposits made before 10 p.m. ET (9 p.m. CT) will still be considered to be made that day.

What is a chip card?
A chip card enhances card security for electronic payments when inserted in the chip card reader (not swiped) of a chip-enabled terminal. The chip generates a unique transaction code which is shared with the ATM processor. This makes the card difficult to copy.
What is EMV?
Chip cards are based on a global card payment standard called EMV, currently used in more than 80 countries. There are more than 3.4 billion chip cards issued across the globe.
Will my chip card prevent all fraudulent activity?
No. Your chip card provides an additional layer of security at chip-enabled terminals; however, perpetrators continue to look for new opportunities to commit fraud. PNC will continue to provide 24-hour fraud monitoring and, as always, your PNC Visa debit, credit, and PNC SmartAccess cards come with Zero Liability Fraud Protection.
How do I know if I have a chip card?
If you have a chip card, the chip is located on the front of the card. You will still have a magnetic stripe on the back so that you can use it at merchants who don’t accept chip cards yet.
What does a chip-enabled ATM look like?
Chip-enabled ATMs have all of the features that you are used to. You likely won’t notice any physical difference between a magnetic stripe ATM and a chip-enabled ATM.
How do I know if an ATM accepts chip cards?
Insert your card into the ATM with the chip facing up as you normally would. If the ATM is chip-enabled, the machine will recognize the chip on your card and will guide you through the transaction.
What should I expect when using my chip card at a chip-enabled ATM?
Depending on the type of ATM, your experience may differ slightly.

What if I remove my card before the ATM prompts me to do so?
If your card is removed prior to the prompt, the terminal and your card may be damaged. If there is no visible damage to your card and the machine returns to the welcome screen, you can attempt the transaction again. If the machine states out of service, then you will need to use a different ATM. If you card is physically damaged or denied by the ATM, you will need to call PNC at 1-888-PNC-BANK, or visit a branch, and go through the process of ordering a new card.
Can I still use my chip card at a non-chip-enabled ATM or merchant terminal?
Yes. Your card will have a chip and a magnetic stripe to accommodate any situation.
What if the ATM doesn't accept chip cards?
Cards will still have a magnetic stripe on the back, so even if a terminal or ATM is not yet chip-enabled, you can use your card as you do today.

How do I know if I am at an ATM with the enhanced screen?
ATMs that have the enhanced screen will have an orange bar at the top of each screen as well as a gray screen background.
I had a Personalization profile set up and I am being asked to set up another. Why?
Profiles created prior to the ATM upgrades are not compatible with the upgraded platform. However, a new profile can be created in only a few seconds. This can be done at the ATM terminal, any branch location, online or through PNC’s Customer Care line 1-888-PNC-BANK.
Is there any risk in having two Personalization profiles?
No. The responses to the Personalization questions do not house any information where personal information could be compromised.
Why can only PNC account holders utilize the e-receipt option?
PNC does not record the e-mail addresses of customers who are not PNC account holders.
Why can't I change my e-mail address at the ATM?
For your security, PNC does not allow account holders to change their e-mail address at the ATM. This can easily be done at any branch location, through Online Banking or through PNC’s customer Care line- 1-888-PNC-BANK.
When can I change my profile?
Immediately. On the main menu screen there is an option to edit profiles. Following the screen options will enable you to make changes. You can also make changes through Online Banking.
As a PNC customer, there is no ATM surcharge fee for PNC and PNC Partner ATMs. PNC Partner ATMs are not owned by PNC, and may be limited to cash withdrawal functionality.
PNC does not charge a fee for Mobile Banking. However, third party message and data rates may apply. These include fees your wireless carrier may charge you for data usage and text messaging services. Check with your wireless carrier for details regarding your specific wireless plan and any data usage or text messaging charges that may apply. Also, a supported mobile device is needed to use the Mobile Banking App. Mobile Deposit is a feature of PNC Mobile Banking. Use of the Mobile Deposit feature requires a supported camera-equipped device and you must download a PNC mobile banking app. Eligible PNC Bank account and PNC Bank Online Banking required. Certain other restrictions apply. See the mobile banking terms and conditions in the PNC Online Banking Service Agreement.

After capturing your check images, if the check qualifies, we will offer the choice between standard funds availability at no charge or PNC Express Funds for a fee.
The fee for PNC Express Funds is 2% of each check amount over $100. For any check amount from $25 to $100, a $2 fee will apply to each check.
If a check is returned due to insufficient funds, PNC will not debit your account.
If your deposit is completed before 10 p.m. ET on a business day, your funds will also be available to pay checks or items during nightly processing. If your deposit is completed after 10 p.m. ET, your funds will be available to pay checks or items presented on the next business day.
Note: With standard funds availability (no charge), checks drawn on PNC will be available the evening of your deposit to pay checks or items presented that evening for posting if your deposit is completed by 10 p.m. ET.
Zero Liability Fraud Protection does not apply to ATM transactions, PIN transactions not processed by Visa, and certain commercial card transactions.
